On this shortest day of the year, we celebrate the return of the Sun God. May his warm rays illuminate his temple once more and bestow life throughout the lands. Hail the unconquered Sun!
"Temple of Apollo" was inspired by the classical Greek and Roman incense recipes celebrating the old winter solstice and the rebirth of the sun. In modern Christianity, December 25th is celebrated as the birth of Jesus. However in earlier times the date was celebrated as the birthday of various deities including Apollo, Mithras and Dionysus. The combination of ingredients resulted in on of the most delightful and refreshing blends I have created thus far. Though originally intended as a winter solstice incense, this blend is perfectly enjoyable year round.
For those following more esoteric paths, this blend works excellently as an altar incense and as a purifying agent. It is perfect for bringing the Sun or the fire element into ones workings.
