The halls were decked with fragrant oranges, handing like ornaments that tempted one to bite into them. The fragrance of cloves and incense brought a smile to all those who were present...
Inspired by traditional Pomander incense balls, clove-studded oranges were once common during Christmas in Colonial America. Not only did these ornaments smell wonderful, but they were also thought to guard against moths and infections.
"Orange Clove Delights" was another blend from the Yuletide traditions series. It was initially inspired by traditional pomander balls. These fragrant balls are produced by taking an orange and pushing numerous clove buds into it. From what I have read, various other powdered incense and spice ingredients are then sprinkled over the orange and then it is wrapped in foil and allowed to dry out and cure for some months. This incense blend inspired by the age old tradition was by far the most popular of our Yuletide blends.
