Sangre de Grado (aka. Peruvian Dragon's Blood)is a dry, brittle, deep dark red resin obtained from spurges in the Croton genus. This euphorbia family member is native to the Northwestern Amazon. We supply this resin as comparison for collectors of dragon's blood resins. As far as we can tell, C. lechleri is not directly related to any of the other forms of dragon's blood such as those coming from the genus Daemonorops, Dracaena, Rotang, etc. Being a 'spurge', we do not recommend burning Sangre de Grado resin without further research. Initial experiments with this resin have yielded similar characteristics to that of Dracaena cinnabari, except without much of the floral notes. The smoke produced has a strong pungent and fetid characteristic and may be toxic. The resin is most normally found in tinctures and extracts and used medicinally for skin wounds. While we are unsure of the correspondences with Sangre de Grado, Dragon's blood generally is associated with the Fire element and the celestial body Mars.
